Frequently Asked Questions

All enrolled students receive academic instruction in math, science, social studies, English language arts, fine arts, physical education, and religion.

The Personalized Learning Plans can include existing educational programs with in-person, online, or virtual modes of instruction, and can include subject-specific tutors through LCCCM. Existing courses at White Horse Hall or Veritas Online can be used, as can music classes & lessons at the NSA Conservatory or Bohnet Music Academy. The Microschool will purchase the curriculum, books, course fees, subscriptions, materials like pens and pencils, memberships, electronics, internet access, and tutors necessary to implement your student’s Personalized Learning Plan, up to the amount agreed upon in your Tuition Agreement. Your Home Room Teacher will interact regularly with you throughout the school year and help you produce a learning portfolio that documents your student’s growth. Every Personalized Learning Plan will be reviewed and approved by the microschool’s Director. Plans can be updated throughout the year as needed.
A complete Approved/Not Approved list of resources will be available in Summer 2026. -
1) You can continue most of your day-to-day rhythms as homeschoolers while receiving the benefits of the Parental Choice Tax Credit. We offer a religious education and more flexibility than virtual charter schools such as Braintree Academy and Overture which are marketed to homeschoolers.
2) You can enroll in the school and continue to use your preferred curriculum as well as existing in-person or online courses, provided they are approved as part of your Personalized Learning Plan by the microschool director. We anticipate that all courses and lessons from White Horse Hall, Taliesin School, Veritas Online, Logos Online, Bohnet Music Academy, NSA Conservatory, Elevation Ballet, Moscow Mules Rugby, and Rince na Gra Irish Dance will be approved.
3) You will only have to submit one receipt to the state to document your qualified expenses: a single tuition payment to the Latah County Classical Christian Microschool. This simplifies your ability to demonstrate an appropriate educational use of your tax credit.
4) The Microschool will help you assemble a learning portfolio which should satisfy the legal requirements for using the Parental Choice Tax Credit.

1) You already have $3,500 per year of costs just in tuition and books in the four core subjects of math, science, social science, and English language arts. You feel confident in your choice of curriculum and courses. You feel confident you can assemble a learning portfolio for your student. You feel confident that your expenses will be deemed qualified by the state.
2) You aren’t sure you want to commit to working with a Home Room Teacher and creating a learning portfolio in the four core subjects (Math, Science, Social Studies, and English Language Arts). Whether for the sake of flexibility or just being too busy, you don’t want the hassle of working with a teacher, constructing a Personalized Learning Plan, and documenting the learning with a Learning Portfolio. We get it, but we can’t budge on those things, so we’re probably not right for you.
3) You want to enroll your student in public school sports or dual-enrollment courses at UI, but still also attempt to use the Parent Choice Tax Credit to pay for that student to be part of the school. Unfortunately, that is not allowed under the law.

We are “big-tent” classical educators. If it’s rooted in the western tradition, and critical of more recent educational fads, it’s classical to us. There is room for both Charlotte Mason and Dorothy Sayers families in our microschool (and everything in between).
-
No, under no circumstances can you be paid for teaching or tutoring your own children.
-
You are very welcome to enroll just one or two of your children in the school and do whatever else you would like for the rest. Perhaps 1-2 kids fit in great at Logos School, but 1-2 others are too constricted in the classroom environment. Great! We invite you to enroll as few or as many of your children as you think best.

Yes, with caveats. Even “part-time” students will need a Personalized Learning Plan that includes the four core subjects, a Home Room Teacher, and to construct a learning portfolio. Our school is set up to ensure that every enrolled student, whether full-time or part-time, is receiving “Academic Instruction” as legally defined by the state of Idaho in the Parental Choice Tax Credit law. Because of this, part-time tuition plans will include the same $1,500 per-student annual cost that goes toward the operational expenses of the school. And, “part-time” students will need to receive academic instruction in all four core subjects. That is non-negotiable.
-
No, we are not accredited. The state of Idaho does not require our school to be accredited. But, since we are not accredited, parents are responsible to maintain a learning portfolio that demonstrates student growth in the four core areas. Your tuition to our school includes a Home Room Teacher that will help make sure that the student is learning and is documenting that learning in a portfolio.
-
We will not issue diplomas, but we will provide a transcript of courses taken upon a parent’s request.

No, we are a nonpublic school, which is why we charge tuition and use religious materials in our instruction. However, we believe that Christian families using Braintree or Overture will greatly benefit from switching to our school. We offer an education similar in many ways, but we are 1) not tied to secular accreditation standards, 2) able to use religious curriculum, 3) able to allow you to choose your core curricula, instead of relying upon materials chosen by the school system, and 4) able to fund your personalized learning plan at a higher dollar level than the Supplemental Funds offered by these programs. We achieve this by being laser-focused on your child’s education, unencumbered by state regulation that has caused the proliferation of often unnecessary administrative staff.
