Who we are
Our mission is to assist homeschooling families in Latah County, Idaho and around the world provide a Classical Christian education for their children. We achieve our mission by creating a personalized learning plan for each student, where we provide students with academic instruction in accord with the desires of their parents. Since God has given parents the primary responsibility and privilege of educating their children, we exist to support parents in this important religious and intellectual work. In accordance with classical educational thinking from Western Civilization, from Plato down to Charlotte Mason, LCCCM views holistic and individualized education as necessary for the formation of healthy and flourishing Christian citizens and persons. Parents and students must be confessing Christians (holding to the Apostle’s Creed or an evangelical/fundamentalist Christian faith).
The Educational Process
Our mission of personalized education requires a high degree of customization and flexibility of implementation. Because many existing curricula, courses, and co-ops are excellent, this microschool will generally not be creating our own traditional classes or meeting face-to-face in groups.
Instead, LCCCM allows each family to work independently, in accordance with their own family’s vision of education, with some oversight from the school’s staff. We anticipate that most of the students in our microschool will be learning in their own homes, working closely with their parents, and following most of the day-to-day patterns of homeschooling families and virtual school students.
But, LCCCM is different than just homeschooling. Before the school year begins, the Microschool Director or Assistant Director meets with parents to develop a Personalized Learning Plan for each student that embodies a classical Christian education according to the parents’ desires and student’s unique giftings. Parents choose the curriculum or existing courses that they want to use for their child’s education in four core subject areas (Math, Science, Social Studies, and English Language Arts), plus fine arts, physical education, religion, and optional elective subject areas that are commonly taught in Idaho public and private schools. The Personalized Learning Plans are not detailed lesson plans, but just one page overviews of the general curriculum and methods of delivery – the pace of implementation will typically remain flexible and under the parents’ daily direction.
Each student will be assigned a Home Room Teacher who will meet with parents periodically as their child is going through his Personalized Learning Plan. The Home Room Teacher will help the student produce a Learning Portfolio that demonstrates how he has academically grown during the year.
The Financial Process
Students enroll in the microschool and pay tuition, just like they would at any other private school. The microschool then provides you with a Home Room Teacher and pays for all reasonable and necessary expenses to implement the Personalized Learning Plan, up to the amount specified on the tuition agreement. Each tuition plan will clearly indicate the total cost and what portion of that cost is dedicated to the Personalized Learning Plan (curriculum, books, courses, subscriptions, materials, electronics, memberships, tutors, etc.). The remainder of your tuition goes toward paying home room teachers, microschool operations, business costs, and profit. You will receive a clear receipt for your full tuition payment (which you will need to keep and submit to the state of Idaho if you are using the Parental Choice Tax Credit).
PROJECTED 2026-2027 Academic Year Tuition Fees:
Full-time Student Tuition: $5,000.
Of this amount, $3,500 will be spent toward the Personalized Learning Plan
Part-time enrollment information is forthcoming.
